Morzine has much to offer in the summer time and there is something for everyone of all ages to enjoy, be it adrenalin sports or more gentle activities. The Portes du Soleil, one of Europe's largest ski-ing areas, in summer, is host to many different activities.
If you are booking either a catered chalet holiday or a self catered apartment we are able to organise most of these activities in advance for you so you can get the most out of your time on holiday. Please let us know what you would like to do in the Extras section on the Enquiries Form.
| Mountain Biking |
 With over 500kms of mountain trails to bike on and chair lifts to get you started, the area has become well known for its terrain. Many events are hosted here, including the World Cup Downhill in Les Gets and the Avalanche Cup in Morzine. Mountain bikers can use these courses throughout the summer, along with the other courses in the Portes du Soleil. There is also the Free Raid which is available for all to enter in early summer. This is a race for the all round riders (downhill and cross country) which takes you all over the area.

| Hiking and Walking |
 There is hiking and walking for all ages and abilities from relaxing low level walks through alpine pastures to more demanding high mountain hikes using wires over rough terrain. Should you wish to be taken on guided walks or hikes then we can tailor these to your exact requirements and can also incorporate such things as swimming in mountain lakes.
All types of hiking offer fabulous views of the French and Swiss Alps.
There will be a small supplement per person per week to cover pick-ups and drop-offs plus a packed lunch for your days hiking.

| Golf |
 For the golfing enthusiasts, there are courses at Les Gets and Avoriaz and just 40 minutes down the valley the international course at Evian, with the spectacular course at Chamonix just over an hour away.

| Parapente (Paragliding) |
 Morzine is one of the venues for the World Cup. For those who fancy a flight for the first time, a tandem flight can be arranged for about 55 Euros.
You take off from a mountain above Morzine and fly over the village to land at the bottom of the Pleney. |
| River Activities |
The River Dranse is well known for its water activities. White Water Rafting and Hydrospeeding (floating down the river headfirst with a float) can easily be arranged and are exhilerating experiences for those who have not tried them before.
There is also canyoning available for those who want to test their nerve, jumping into rock pools and abseiling off bridges and waterfalls. |

| Avoriaz Via Ferrata |
 Located just a stone’s throw away the centre of the resort, this is a safe signposted itinerary, on the side of the mountain, equipped with a handrail system, steps, and footbridges, allowing one to climb up the rock face to the summit in complete safety. Magnificent view over Avoriaz.
A physical aptitude and suitable equipment are the minimum requirements. This itinerary is free of charge, however, it is advisable to use the services of a professional high-mountain guide.
Price : adult from 36 €, child : 33 € including supervision and the necessary climbing material.

| Bike Attittude |
Discover some different thrills with this new downhill bike, mounted on low-pressure wheels, with disc brakes on the back. And no pedals! Designed with uniquely the downhill in mind, on the Crot ski slope that links Avoriaz to the Ardoisières valley.
This activity is for everyone, as long as you know how to ride a bike, and are over 1.5 m tall.
Price: 17 € each go, which includes the bike, and the ride up in the cable car.

In Morzine, the Indiana Park with natural circuits made of ladders, swing bridges and various other zip wires, which allow properly equipped beginners to move safely from tree to tree accompanied by a guide (Harnesses, karabiners, pulleys etc are all provided).
A new adventure is just a stone's throw away for young folk and their friends and families (min age 6). There are guaranteed laughs and fun to be had all afternoon, as you're perched in a tree, facing a zip wire that's brilliant but scary at the same time… |
| Mountain Boarding |
It’s difficult to describe this new sport that is carried out in summer on the winter ski slopes, with the help of a skateboard fitted out with large wheels.
In fact, the mountain board is in part the synthesis of all snow sports invented up to this day. Have a go and get the feeling of being back on the snow, slip-sliding around, whatever discipline you follow in the winter you’ll find similar sensations.
For wave and roll fans, it’s that boarding feeling, for those who love ramps and jumps it’s the same feeling as your favorite pastime, and even powder-hounds will be surprised how the slopes in summer can conjure up the same sensations! |
| Climbing |
3 cliffs in Le BiotThe "Pas de l'Ours" cliff, with some routes up to 80 metres in length, up to level 8A, 8B. The "Touvière" beginners rock face, with routes up to 30 metres in length (5 to 6B).-The rock-face for experts looking to work on their technique at the Col du Corbier, at Arblay (from 7B).There is also an indoor artificial climbing wall in Morzine Palais des Sport.Climbing maps are for sale in shops and at the Tourist Office.
Climbing Guides and Courses:
Beginners climbing lessons on the rock-face from 10 years old. Also available, a course of 3 half-days for children. A state-qualified instructor will be present for beginners lessons, experienced climbers courses and courses for children from the age of 6.

 There are two local riding schools: Montriond Le "Ranch de l'Avenir" - Horse riding with Pierre Premat and Françoise Saint Marc, and Morzine's Parc des Dereches. There is a large range of equestrian leisure activities: initiation, intermediate level classes, outdoor riding etc. For children they do awareness and saddling sessions from 4 years old. You can take many paths through beautiful mountain scenery making for a truly memorable day.

 Here is the chance to titillate numerous different species in the various rivers (the Dranse in Morzine, the Jotty dam etc) and lakes (Mines d'Or in Morzine, lake Montriond etc). The river Dranse is famous for its trout fishing.

Morzine has an outdoor Olympic size swimming pool open to the public. There are also lakes at Montriond and Les Gets where you can swim.
Water Park
The Olympic swimming pool offers sunbathing and greenery for all. There are 2 pools, including one measuring 50m by 21m, a paddling pool, lawn, terrace and solarium, deckchairs and parasols...Activities available:

Lake Montriond
Not far from our chalet this beautiful lake is perfectly setup for a day of fun in the sun. There are 2 beautiful lakeside restaurants where you can have a sumptuous lunch or take a bbq and enjoy an early evening feast in the setting sun. There is a special childrens area which has a lifeguard and plenty of grassy banks where you can enjoy the fun. Around the lake there is horse riding, childrens activities and the opportunity to hire kayaks or canoes to take for a paddle in the lake. |

A visit to the old town
The traditional life of the village can be appreciated through a visit to the old town under the auspices of one of the official Guides of the region of Savoy. Various themes are offered to allow you to discover the architecture, traditions, and way of life of Morzine…with a history lesson on the Duchy of Savoy thrown in (every Thursday in season, departure beside the church at 10 a.m.).
The Morzine cheese dairy
A few years spent on the benches of the law faculty of Lyon were enough to convince him that his path led elsewhere. Nicholas Baud abandoned law for a course in cheese making and returned to Morzine and converted the basement of the family shop into a cheese dairy and maturing cellars. Working with the dairy farmers of the village, he produces Tomme, Reblochon and Abondance cheeses. He receives visitors twice a week to participate in the making of cheese (Wednesday and Thursday at 9 a.m., free of charge).

Traditional crafts
As you walk through the streets, it will come as no surprise to discover local products and activities in the shop window displays : cheeses and mountain-cured meats, traditional Savoy pottery, or objects made of carved wood or slate made by local craftsmen. And you will find this authenticity on the tables of Morzine restaurants too. Lovers of traditional fare will discover the traditional Fondues and Braserades but also the more unusual dishes of Berthoud, Diots or Farcement, with their delicious flavours heightened by the addition of Savoy wines. You will leave the table completely won over by this local cuisine which is both simple and inventive.
